egypt

If we were playing a game of word association and I said “Egypt”, most participants would say “Nile” or “Pyramid”. Indeed that’s what the ancient land is famous for. For “Cairo” the response would likely be "traffic";for “tombs” it would be "touts". Yet these words don’t convey the grandeur and antiquity that this country has on offer.

Egypt has long been on tourists' radars owing largely to the Giza pyramid complex, the Great Sphinx and its ancient ruins, such as those of Memphis, Thebes, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings.

Antiquity is steeped in this land, which will be obvious as you drift down Nile on a slow boat, passing ladies doing their washing in the river as women have for 1000s of years. The Nile Valley was originally home to one of the oldest cultures in the world, spanning three thousand years of continuous history. Watch some belly dancing, shop at markets, sip tea and most definitely channel your inner-Cleopatra and indulge in some decadence – Egyptian style.
