Yes, we are all familiar with the Italian attractions and allure and if we are in any doubt there rows and rows at the local bookstore describing the joys of spending a year off learning Italian while falling love in a village in Tuscany.

From porn stars to political scandal, the Italians don’t believe in doing anything by halves. Moving between north, south and central Italy you’ll encounter everything designer-fixated cool cats to the effervescent “grazie bella” pseudo-charming stereotypes to the “eat, eat” mamas and everything in between. Don’t let the hoardes discourage you – Florence, Venice, Lake Como and the Amalfi Coast are all popular because they are worth it. Travelling in the off-season may help. ‘Discover’ the Italian Alps and Sardinia and you’ll feel like you’ve found another Italy. In summary: tutti bene, tutti bene. It’s all good.
