KENDWA ROCKS

There are not too many places that tick all the boxes of the idilic beach retreat. Kendwa Rocks comes closer than most. Situated on a slight hill back from a crystal white beach with picture postcard aqua blue water, Kendwa Rocks is one of the more special places on an island specialising in special! A ramshackle wooden beach bar and restaurant sits in the sand a few meters up from the water with a myriad of hammocks providing the perfect place to chill with a cold Kilamanjaro Lager and a restaurant serving up fresh seafood delights.

But there is plenty to for those not wanting to be too idle. Scuba Diving, fishing or beach soccer with the locals on an almost full pitch in the sand will keep you as bust as you need to be.

Full Moon parties are renowned here so be wary on those evenings. Having said that it is nothing like Thailand's lunar lunacy and as such not something to be too afraid of.

You will LOVE!

  • the sunsets are extraordinary
  • the clear aqua blue Indian Ocean
  • unlike most of Zanzibar Kendwa is not tidal (at other beaches tides go out almost a kilometer)
  • the seclusion and low key aura... Kendwa is very casual

You might NOT LIKE!

  • having to be a bit careful with the food
  • the bar can go a bit late and is loud
  • tt's casual... don't expect too much on the service side
  • you need to be careful at night. No walks along the beach once the sun is down
